Statement of Accounts 2023-24

STATEMENT OF ACCOUNTS: YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2024

NOTICE OF LATE PUBLICATION OF ACCOUNTS FOR PUBLIC INSPECTION

The Accounts and Audit (Amendment) Regulations 2015 – Regulation 15, paragraph (1a)

Under section 26 of the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014, any persons interested have a right at the audit of the accounts each year to inspect the accounting records for the financial year to which the audit relates and all books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers, receipts and other documents relating to those records.

Regulations 14 and 15 of the Accounts and Audit Regulations 2015 (as amended) require that this right (and associated rights) are exercisable over a single period of 30 working days, commencing no later than the first working day in June.

The Council has been unable to complete the draft 2023/24 Statement of Accounts by the 31 May 2024 and therefore commence the public inspection period by the statutory date of 3 June 2024. This is due to a delay in the Council receiving the fixed asset valuations from an external provider. The fixed asset valuations are needed for material transactions and disclosures. Therefore it is necessary to delay the publication of the Council’s 2023/24 Draft Statement of Accounts for public inspection.

A further notice will be published in due course setting out the public inspection period once the draft 2023/24 Statement of Accounts have been finalised and published. This is anticipated to be by either late June 2024 or early July 2024.

This notice is issued under Regulation 15, paragraph 1A of the Accounts and Audit  Regulations 2015.
