Food Waste Collections
On the Devon Aligned Service:
- Food waste is collected weekly from the kerbside
- We supply kerbside and kitchen caddies for food waste recycling
- We collect both cooked and uncooked food
How do I use my caddies?
- Use the smaller caddy in your kitchen
- You can line your caddy with any bag, such as cereal bags, bread bags, salad bags and so on. Alternatively you can line your caddy with newspaper or leave the food loose.
- Lining your caddy will help to keep it clean and help stop it from smelling. A bag or liner also makes it easier for our waste crews to collect your food waste.
- When your indoor caddy is full, transfer the waste to the larger caddies.
- Put the large caddy out at your usual collection point on your collection day.
- If you put the handle forward the lid will lock to help keep the contents secure.
What can I put in the caddy?
The food waste caddy is for any cooked and uncooked food waste, including:
- bread
- dairy
- fruit and veg
- teabags and coffee grounds
- meat and fish
- small bones
- eggshells
Please do not put liquids, oils or liquid fats in your caddy. These should go in a container in your black bin. Do not put oils or fats down your sink.
