Councillor Allowances

Find out about the types of allowances provided for Council Members.

Basic Allowance

For the period 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025, a Basic Allowance of £6,500 per annum shall be paid to each Councillor.

This is intended to recognise the time commitment of Members to Council and constituency duties and costs relating to:

  • the use of the Members' home;
  • postage;
  • stationery; and
  • minor office equipment.
