As part of our commitment to tackle climate change within our fleet of vehicles, we have been trialling the use of three electric vans and an electric road sweeper to help reduce our carbon emissions.
A huge new section of Sherford’s Country Park has been created and is now open to the public. This green space now covers over 92 acres of land. The new park is a stunning slice of South Hams countryside that is free to visit and open to all.
A clean marine environment remains high on our agenda as we now look to expand our work in the recycling of abandoned vessels across South Hams’ waters.
We have agreed an exciting and ambitious woodland deal for a new 65-acre community woodland which is going to be created in South Brent. Tree planting will start later this year with a community planting event.
Work to enhance Salcombe’s Hangar Marsh nature reserve has been completed, with part of the site now reopened to the public. This is part of our ongoing commitment to address biodiversity loss across the District.
Businesses in the South Hams are receiving free specialist help and advice on how to reduce their environmental impact, thanks to support from Libraries Unlimited and funding from South Hams District Council.
Salcombe and its neighbouring parishes are taking part in a public consultation so that its residents, businesses and second homeowners can help shape the future of the town.
