The South Hams Community Awards are designed to celebrate and shine a deserved light on the individuals, groups and organisations who make an outstanding contribution to our South Hams communities.
The Awards will be given to an individual, group or organisation who has made an outstanding contribution in their community.
An individual can include a person temporarily living away from the District but whose main place of residence remains in the South Hams.
What awards are presented?
There are four awards:
- Young Persons Award (under 18)
- Community Champion Award (over 18)
- Community Organisation Award
- Climate and Biodiversity Champion
Award | Who should be nominated |

Young Persons |
The nominee should be: ✔ a person under the age of 18 (at the time of nomination) and ✔ who has done something particularly noteworthy in the District |
Community Champion |
The nominee should be: ✔ a person over the age of 18 and ✔ who has done something particularly noteworthy in the District |
Community Organisation |
The nominee should be: ✔ an organisation or community group who has done something particularly noteworthy in the District |
Climate and Biodiversity Champion |
The nominee should be: ✔ a person (no age restriction) who has done something particularly noteworthy on the theme of the natural environment or climate |
How can I nominate someone?
Nominations are now closed for 2025. Thank you to all those who submitted an application. All applications will now be reviewed by the judging panel with awards announced at the Council meeting scheduled for 20 March 2025.
