Enforcement Policy

The Council's Enforcement Policy sets out how we deal with enforcing the laws that we have a duty to enforce as a Local Authority.

When does this policy apply?

We recognise that the majority of businesses and residents want to meet their legal requirements without being faced with unnecessary burdens. We are keen to be supportive by adopting a pragmatic approach through advice and guidance where we can.

This Policy is our overarching approach to enforcement and is supplemented where necessary by service-specific policies.
