Changing a House Name

Apply to change the name of a property that already has an official registered address, or add a name to a property that currently only has a number.

This application form can be used for both residential and business properties.

Apply to Change a House Name

There is a fee of £25 per property.

Useful Information

  • Changing or adding a name to a property can only be officially done by applying to the council.
  • You can only apply if you are the registered owner of a property - if you are in the process of purchasing a property, we can only accept your application once you have exchanged contracts.
  • We will then check that the new name complies with our Street Naming and Numbering Policy, and will then send details of the name change to a range of organisations including Royal Mail and the emergency services, as well as internal council departments.
