A Conservation Area was first designated on 26 October 1976 under Section 277 of the Town and Country Planning Act, 1971 (as amended by Section 1 of the Town and Country Amenities Act, 1974).
On 3 October 1985 the Conservation Area was extended under the Town and Country Planning Act, 1971.
On 3 September 1992 the Conservation Area was extended again under Sections 69 and 70 of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990.
On 18 March 2015 the Conservation Area was extended again under Section 69 of the Planning (Listed Building and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 - Part of the village of South Pool.
