A Conservation Area was first designated on 3 October 1985 under Section 277 of the Town and Country Planning Act, 1971 (as amended by Section 1 of the Town and Country Amenities Act, 1974).
It was later extended on 3 September 1992 under Sections 69 and 70 of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990.
It was later revised on 13 March 2008 under Section 69 of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990.
