How does the scheme work?
Once approved, you can start to use the service on the PayByPhone on the app with a registered vehicle. The reduced parking tariff will apply automatically when you enter the parking time you want via PayByPhone cashless parking payment service.
If you plan not to use the PayByPhone app you can still register for the scheme and pay with cash for a ticket at the pay and display machine but benefit from having an additional 30 minutes free parking from when your ticket expires. This extra 30 minutes will not show on the pay and display ticket; however, the parking officer will clearly identify those registered for the scheme through the vehicle registration and will add this time onto the expiry time of the pay and display ticket.
How do you qualify for the resident’s discount scheme?
To qualify for the resident discount scheme, you need to be a resident in the South Hams. To apply you must upload any of the following:
- V5C Log
- Motability Agreement
- Leasing Agreement
Evidence can be uploaded as PDFs, scanned copies, screenshots, or clear photographs. Have your documents ready before starting your application.
When can you sign up for the resident’s discount scheme?
You can sign up at any time from February 2025 in advance of the scheme beginning on 1 April. From 1 April, you will have access to discounted parking tariffs for 12 months. All applications received after 1 April will be valid for 12 months from the point of joining the scheme. Once the application has been processed and you have been approved for a permit, you will be able to access the scheme from the next working day.
The discount scheme will go live from 1 April 2025.
A £5 administration fee will be charged per application submission for the processing of your application, so please take care to ensure all your information is correct, and you have supplied all necessary documents. Any errors in submitting your application with incorrect information will be non-refundable. Refunds will not apply.
What happens if I do not have the ability to apply online for the resident’s discount scheme?
There are various ways to apply for the resident discount scheme. The easiest and most efficient way would be to apply through our website using the online application form.
