South Hams Markets

Totnes market will reopen on Friday 5 June. There will be a reduced number of stalls so that we can operate a separate entrance in and out of the market.

Kingsbridge and Ivybridge markets will restart from 11 June. We have contacted traders to let them know that the space is available if they wish to start trading again.

Please keep 2m apart from other market users and traders, wear a face covering and washing your hands regularly before and after visiting. Please also avoid touching objects and surfaces, and pay by card where possible.

Market spaces are available at Totnes, Kingsbridge and Ivybridge.

Please contact southhams.markets@swdevon.gov.uk if you are interested in a pitch.

Pitches are only allocated based on availability at each market and are subject to terms and conditions which are available to traders once a pitch is granted.

Totnes Pannier Market operates on every Friday and Saturday on the Market Square and also occupies the Civic Hall car park.  There has been a market here in Totnes for hundreds of years.
Today it is a flourishing busy market selling food, clothes, plants, bric-a-brac, antiques, furniture, jewellery and tools.

Totnes market is operated by South Hams District Council who own the Market Square area and the market is enforced by an authorised Inspector from Street Scene Services Team.

Kingsbridge market operates from the Square at Quay Car Park.

  • Tuesdays -  all year
  • Mondays - May to September
  • Thursdays - March to December

Ivybridge market operates from Glanvilles Mill Car Park every Thursday.

Market stalls are subject to the payment of rent depending on the size of the pitch and are collected by the Inspector on the morning of trading.  All goods and produce sold are subject to the Inspectors approval and the Council reserves the right to refuse traders if deemed necessary. Stall pitches are controlled by the Market Inspector.  All stall holders are required to provide their own stall and must have public liability insurance.  Please note that most pitches are not undercover.

How can I get a pitch on a market?

Traders wishing to attend the markets may book a pitch by emailing southhams.markets@swdevon.gov.uk. There is no guarantee of a spot if you book ahead. You will be notified if there is a space available which may possibly be at short notice.
