This grant fund aims to support new and existing market traders to better enable them to trade from South Hams marketplaces. These capital grants should help traders to be able to trade more effectively through winter, encourage traders to operate from all three of our markets and support new businesses to become market traders by minimising their start-up costs.
For the council and our communities this will support the growth of our markets and provide better uniformity of our stalls while retaining the unique brand of individual businesses.
This project will support:
Limited Companies, including social enterprises and CICs
Must be registered with a company number on Companies House
Sole Traders / Partnerships
Registered with HMRC and with a Unique Tax Reference Number
Charitable Organisations
Registered with the Charities Commission, with a Charity Number
Other organisations of a type not listed above may be considered, at the discretion of the council. Organisations will be asked for proof of being registered to pay tax in the UK before any grant can be approved.
From December 2024, eligible organisations with a relevant project will be able to fill out an online application form at the link below. In addition, the South Hams District Council Economy and Place team will be holding drop-in sessions at each of our markets to assist market traders through the application process. If traders wish to apply at one of the drop-in sessions, they will need to bring a copy of a recent bank statement from the account used for business purposes and be able to provide either their Ltd company number, UTR number or charity number.
The application form will require the following information:
