Renting a Unit

The Council has industrial and office accommodation available to lease in various locations.

Find out here about:

  • The standard terms of our leases
  • How you can estimate the likely cost of renting a property
  • Other running costs that you will need to consider.

What properties are available?

Please visit Rightmove Commercial Letting to find out what properties we have available at the current time, and arrange a viewing or apply to lease.

What are the terms?

Our properties are generally let on three year leases at competitive rents. The length of lease can be changed and for some properties we are able to offer easy in/easy out terms, which allow you to serve three months' notice at any time if you wish to vacate the property.

How much does it cost?

The level of rent payable will depend on the property you lease from us. The rent will vary depending on the size, locality, attributes, facilities and terms of the lease for that property. We take account of what other similar properties are being let for on the open market and ensure our rents are comparable.

What else might I need to know?

  • Business Rates: For information about the level of rates payable for a specific property please visit the Business Rates Web Page. The Rateable Value of a property is set by the Valuation Office Agency, part of HMRC, and further information about Rateable Values can be found at the Valuation Office Website.
  • Service Charge: This will depend on the terms of the lease and the specific property. Our list of available properties will give details of the level of service charge for a specific property where it is payable.

Remember you will also need to allow for the usual running costs, such as electricity, gas, water and telephone.

How do I apply to lease a Council property?
