Youth Leisure Nights Programme Re-starts in Ivybridge
11 February 2022
Fusion Lifestyle and South Hams District Council are pleased to announce that a new programme of health and fitness focussed Youth Nights will re-start on Friday 25 February 2022 at the Ivybridge Leisure Centre in Leonards Road.
All young people aged between 11-16 years in the district are invited to come along and enjoy a range of activities at the pool and gym. They can also join in an exciting partnership with Plymouth Argyle Football Club, who will be providing a community multi-sport coach to lead activity in the sports hall.
The Youth Nights programme will run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. weekly during term time and will cost £2.50 for each session, with the first session being offered free. Pre-Covid, Youth Nights were a regular and popular feature at Ivybridge. The team are looking forward to welcoming many young people back who have missed these popular sessions.
The programme aims to support young people to make a healthy lifestyle shift and engage with sports and physical activity. It is working in partnership with youth workers from Youth Genesis funded by Sport England's Tackling Inequalities Fund via Active Devon and Ivybridge Town Council.
Clare Bill, Fusion's Strategic Development Manager said: "We are delighted to be able to offer young people in the community a place to work out, to swim, to discover and enjoy a new sport and meet new people. We are very grateful for all the support of everyone involved and look forward to welcoming lots of new faces in the New Year"
Cllr Jonathan Hawkins from South Hams District Council said: "We know how important it is for both the mental and physical health of young people that they are able to engage in sport and fitness activities. We are delighted support this important initiative with our partners Fusion Lifestyle. Combined with additional funding from Active Devon, these essential dates are back on the calendar, and we look forward to welcoming everyone in February 2022."
