Kingsbridge Pavilion in the Park Consultation
Residents of Kingsbridge and the surrounding area are being asked to take part in a consultation relating to the proposed Pavilion in the Park.
A group involving Kingsbridge Park Community Tennis, Kingsbridge Bowls Club, South Hams Area Wellbeing, Kingsbridge in Bloom, Kingsbridge Town Council and South Hams District Council are investigating the creation of a new community hub building in Kingsbridge Recreation Ground Park. It would provide a modern clubhouse for the tennis and bowls clubs, a meeting room for Kingsbridge in Bloom and a venue for community projects and events. It would also provide much needed toilet facilities. At present, the only toilets in the park are at Café Decks, which is not open all year round.
Denise O'Callaghan, South Hams District Council Ward Member for Kingsbridge, said: "This is such an exciting plan for a much-needed modern clubhouse/ community space complete with toilet facilities for this award-winning park. I would urge everyone to respond to the consultation with their ideas about how it should look, and what should be included - you might envision a café which could be used in the colder months for example which would be a great help for parents with young children."
A number of different plans have been drawn up to consider different locations in the park, including on the current location of the White House (the current bowls club clubhouse and storage facility for South Hams District Council). That particular location is a flood plain, so other options within the park are being explored. The building is designed to be in keeping with the park and aesthetically pleasing for those visiting.
The consultation is running now until February 28 and the Council is encouraging everyone living locally to look at the plans and share their thoughts and feedback.
