The South Hams Local Action Support Fund has been formed to support the community work happening across the South Hams in responding the to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

What is the South Hams Local Action Support Fund?

To support the community work happening across South Hams in responding to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we have formed South Hams Local Action Support Fund. We will rapidly provide small amounts of grant funding to community-led schemes, which identify and/or achieve the small but important things that can safely address some of the issues that are arising because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

 Funding is available for: What we will not fund:
Enabling deliveries of essential goods and services to those who are vulnerable, such as food and medicineActivities which are not charitable in law
Support for accessing online information and services (including co-ordinating virtual community response meetings etc.)Organisations that do not have appropriate safeguarding arrangements
Setting up virtual support groups to help people stay connect and informed, and to maintain and support mental health and wellbeing.Religious activity which is not for wider public benefit
Transport related initiatives that support safe community responses to the outbreakActivities or expenditure incurred prior to 15 March 2020
Grant making or gifts in kind by your organisation to individuals or businesses
Enabling a public body to carry out statutory obligations
Privately owned and profit distributing companies or limited partnerships


Who can apply?

Any community group and individuals can apply however Non-constituted groups without their own, separate bank account, will need to apply with the support of an accountable constituted organisation acting on their behalf as the holder of the funding. If you fall in to this category, we would accept the following as a fund holder (where their constitution allows them to hold funds):

  • Town and Parish Councils
  • Local Community and Voluntary Services Organisation (CVS)
  • Village Hall
  • Another constituted voluntary group or charity

How much can I apply for?

We can provide small grants of up to a maximum of £250.

What happens next?

Your application will be considered by a small panel of Councillors and Officers and we will aim notify you of the outcome within two working days (although depending on the amount of applications this may take slightly longer).
